Uzbekgeofizika is starting a new line of work: studying underground geothermal water and using it for energy, the company reported on 16 September 2025.
On 13 September, heads and specialists of Uzbekgeofizika, the Uzbekistan Recovery and Development Fund, the National Energy Efficiency Agency and Teploenergoproyekt met at the company’s head office. They discussed the importance of this work and its opportunities and prospects in Uzbekistan.
They also agreed specific measures for the first priority: the work needed on well No. 1 in Kokand, Fergana region.
What came next
A month later, the company reported that it had begun a feasibility study for a pilot project using heat from deep wells, discussed on site at its Fergana Geophysical Expedition.
